Aqua Alta

Acqua alta is Venice’s name for the exceptional tides that flood the lagoon city each year. Aqua Alta was made on Torcello, the marshy island where the Venetian settlement began and which the city later all but abandoned to the lagoon — a performance about high water at the place where Venice first learned to live with it.
